Buying advice Seat Leon (5F) 2012-2017 Common Issues, Engines, Inspection

Hi All, Today we will focus on a different brand, the Seat. For all American viewers this brand is part of the Volkswagen Audi Group and is positioned below Volkswagen but this does not imply there is anything of less quality. It is just a strategic decision from VAG to marketed the same technology with a different brand for a different price.
Today we will take a look at the third generation Seat Leon, it has the internal code 5F and was produced between 2012 and 2017.
Strong points; good driving dynamics especially the 1.8 and 2.0 liter petrol cars have a multi-link setup. Even though the car is a couple of years old, the technology used onboard is still useful for 2023 and the next few years to come. Think about the up to date infotainment system.
Beware that the chassis you get with the Leon depends on the power output of the engine, the 1.8 and the 2.0 liter get the multi-link axel, the 1.4 and 1.6 get the torsion axel which is noticeable when driving the car.
Now for the most important part, reliability.
-squeaking wishbones, could be prevented by lubrication the rubbers
-If you opt for the wides tire measures, check for wear and tear
-The DSG version you choose will impact reliability there is a dry or wet version so to speak, the latter one tends to be more reliable
-The mechanical steering unit is expensive to replace if this part fails on you
-Check if the transmission oil has been replaced every 60000 km
-With the TFSI and TDI, problems with the timing chain, internal pollution and extreme oil consumption are common issues but where reduced majorly after the 2012 model-year.
-Slow navigation systems are likely to be improved by new software updates
-If you have a panoramic roof, it is good to lubricate the rubbers in order to keep the squeaks to a minimum
-With the faster versions and the cupra version it is vital to check for structural damage, especially important with imported vehicles with a lower BPM, this last point is especially important for dutch viewers.
